Right to Food and Food Sovereignty With the general objective of contributing to a greater mobilization of people and decision-makers in favor of making Right to Food and Food Sovereignty come true in Sahel up until 2015 it is why the Forum for the Right to Food and Food Sovereignty will take place in Niamei (Nigeria), on October 16-18 2010. Forum for Health, Environment and Land towards a collective action On October 23rd-25th Cairo, Egypt, will host the Forum for Health, Environment and Land towards a collective action. It is an initiative of civil society organizations and networks and social movements from the Maghreb region and it is being thought of being a follow up of the first Forum for Health and Environment that took place in 2008. According to the organizers, In spite of the overall improvement of health indicators in mostly all the countries of Arab region, the inequities remain high within and among countries. Undemocratic political systems; neo-liberal policies and privatization waves; wars, conflicts and political instability are the major determinates for ill-health and health inequity in our region in addition to the classic disparities based on gender, ethnicity, religion and place of residence. In addition, lack of accountability mechanism, the domination of the culture of charity, and fragmentation are some of the internal reasons.
For a common agenda of Pan-Amazon Peoples The V Pan-Amazon Social Forum will be a step further in relation to the union of resistances of indigenous peoples, traditional communities, riverains, quilombolas, foragers, peasants, urban and field workers towards the building of a Pan-Amazon that belongs effectively to its peoples. This is what the organizers believe. These groups will be gathered on November 25th-29th 2010 in Santarem, State of Pará, in the Brazilian Amazon, to build a common struggle agenda, elaborate strategies and deepen their development concepts.
