10 September: West Bank protests politicized

Hebron: Transportation in the Hebron district was completely paralysed and people had difficulties in reaching their places of employment. A big demonstration took place on the main ‘Ai Sara Street, with demonstrators calling for annulment of the Paris agreement with Israel.

Several participants threw stones at the Hebron Municipality building, breaking windows.

Ramallah: Main roads, especially those linking Ramallah with Jerusalem, were closed with burning tires and blocks. Some protesters burned electricity pylons near the Al-Jalaon Refugee Camp, to the North of Ramallah. The largest public demonstration, as usual, was held in Al-Manara Square, with slogans calling for a change in economic policies of the PA and an abandonment of the Oslo Accords in general and the Paris agreement in particular.

Bethlehem: The main road between Hebron and Bethlehem, which passes by the Dheisheh Refugee Camp, was closed and hundreds of youth participated in a demonstration in this main street. In the nearby village of Al-Khader, in the eastern Bethlehem district, demonstrators closed the main road that links the southern and northern West Bank.

Northern West Bank: In Tulkarem a large protest march took place in the city centre and all entrances to the city were closed. In Jenin a demonstration occurred in the Abu Ali Mustapha Square in the city center. In Nablus, clashes between the Palestinian Authority security forces and protesters were reported on Monday evening, the first substantial clashes in this wave of demonstrations. City mosques were calling on protesters to refrain from violence. No injuries or arrests were reported.
