In September, some days after Mohammad Othman was arrested at Allenby Bridge, the village Ni’lin wanted to show their support for him through a demonstration. Youth and farmers, with Israeli and international peace activists from France, Sweden and England reached the area near the Wall,carrying Palestinian flags, calling for an end to the occupation and freedom for all Palestinian prisoners. Youth were also carrying pictures of Mohammad Othman and shouting for his release.
The photos of Ahmad Mesleh reports that day. Occupation soldiers started shooting dozens of tear gas canisters immediately into the demonstration. “Nothing will hold us back,” demonstrators were shouting, calling for the army to leave the area. When the army refused to leave, youth started throwing stones over the Wall and to the sensors on the fence. Soldiers responded with more teargas canisters and sprayed sewage waste water onto the demonstrators. This forced the demonstrators to move back from the Wall.
The demonstration moved to another part of the area, where there is a fence erected. After four hours, around 20 soldiers came through one of the gates in the electric fence, shooting live ammunition at people and chasing people down. They arrested three people including Israeli photographer David Reeb, who was shot with live ammunition in another Ni’lin demonstration a couple of weeks. They also arrested Maxene Emguy, a French visitor to Palestine and Maiy from Sweden.
In october, the Ni’Lin village demonstrated again for the 10-year-old Ahmed Mousa, who was shot and killed on July 28, 2008 after a demonstration in Ni’lin. And for the 17-year-old Yusif ‘Amira, who was shot in the head several times by rubber-coated steel bullets at Ahmed’s funeral the next day. He died in the hospital on August 4, 2008
This friday they join the BDS Marathon, demonstrating again. [pt] A Vila de Ni’lin tem muitas razões para protestar. Como Mohammad é um ativo participante da campanha contra o muro Stop The Wall, os jovens de Ni’lin o conhecem muito bem e querem sua liberdade.
Em setembro, logo depois que Mohammad foi preso na Ponte Allemby, o povo de Ni’lin decidiu mostrar sua solidariedade através de uma manifestação. Juntaram-se agricultores, pacifistas de Israel e internacionais, vindo da França, Suécia e Inglaterra e foram para a área próxima do muro, levando bandeiras palestinas, pedindo o fim da ocupação e liberdade para os prisioneiros.
Os jovens carregam também fotografias de Mohammad Othman, clamando por sua libertação.
As fotos de Ahmad Meleh, do Centro de Junventude de Mi’lin, mostram imagens daquele dia. Soldados da ocupação começaram a atirar bombas de gás lacrimogênio diretamente sobre os manifestantes. “Nada vai nos tirar daqui”, diziam participantes, pedindo que os soldados fossem embora. E como eles não saíssem, jovens passaram a atirar pedaras sobre o muro e os sensores da cerca. Os soldados responderam com mais gas, e também passaram ajogar águas de esgoto sobre os manifestantes.
Os protestos se conscentraram em outra parte da área, onde há uma cerca. Depois de 4 horas, cerca de 20 soldados viram por um dos portões da cerca elétrica e começaram a atirar balas de verdade e perseguir manifestantes. Eles prenderam três pessoas, incluindo o fotógrafo israelense David Reeb, que havia sido atingido por tiros poucas semanas antes, em outro protesto em Ni’lin. Também foram presos Masene Emguy, um visitante da França, e Maiy, da Suécia.
Em outubro, a Villa de Ni’lin se manifestou novamente pelo menino de 10 anos, Ahmed Mousa, que foi baleado e morto em 28 de Julho de 2008, depois de um protesto na vila, e também pelo jovem de 17 anos, Yusif’Amira, que foi baleado na cabeça várias vezes por balas de aço revistidas de borracha, no dia seguinte ao funeral de Ahmed. Ele morreu no hospital no dia 4 de agosto de 2008.
Nesta sexta-feira, o povo de Ni’lin se junta à maratona BDS, e protesta, mais uma vez.
