Worldwide black activities

For the second time in África, the intention of the World Social Forum is to focus on the history of struggle and resistance of the peoples in Africa. During the WSF 2011 in Dakar, Senegal, one day will be dedicated to the diasporas, a black WSF, with their voices echoing all over the continent that it is possible to promote racial equality. A moment when all those who have been banned from their homeland can find their own place, analyze the challenges and possibilities
in order to compensate the enslaved black population.

The WSF has twelve axes. In Axis 10 some of the subjects discussed by the diaspora in Brazil are: Diaspora and African Renaissance, the challenges and possibilities of knowledge production in the diaspora, popular education to fight racism, Panafricanism as a form of political organization in the struggle for compensation, historical compensation for the afro-descendants in the Americas.

The Transformance Institute promotes the union of Portuguese speaking African countries, with activities in Gorée. On this day, there will be a show of the Brazilian group Ylê Aiyê, from the State of Bahia, after the opening march at the Cheikh Anta Diop College.

The Diaspora activities are scheduled for Monday 7th February, and will be disseminated by IFAN – Fundamental Institute of Black Africa (Institut Fondamental d’Afrique Noire – IFAN).
